Effect of Irrigation Management and Water Quality on Soil and Sorghum bicolor Payenne Yield in Cape Verde

چکیده

Treated water use for agriculture will promote sustainable irrigation development and food sovereignty. The aim of this study is to assess the feasibility subsurface drip (SDI) compared (DI) reclaimed (RW) versus conventional groundwater (CW), produce forage sustainably in a warm arid region. A sorghum experiment was conducted field on Santiago Island (Cape Verde). yield 200 t fresh matter·ha?1·year?1, irrigated by RW, obtained. Considering Cape Verde regulations, it possible irrigate using system RW without adding fertilizers. Soil fertility (OM Ntot) increased, while risk parameters (EC, nitrate, Na) returned their initial values after rainy season. best efficiency obtained RWSDI (200 L·kg?1 DM) RWDI, which needed 34% more water. According results, high nitrate elimination rate treatment plants might not be desirable if agricultural reuse planned high-N-demanding species. Establishing new salinity tolerance levels under conditions with SDI, irrigating months lixiviation salts regions are also necessary.

Effect of Integrated Weed Management on Yield, Quality and Economics of Summer Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.)

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) is one of the globally important cereal crop after wheat, maize, rice and barley. Sorghum is a unique crop among the major cereals and the staple food and fodder crop of the world’s poor and most food-insecure populations, located primarily in the semi-arid tropics. Sorghum is grown on 43.81 million ha area in the world, producing about 65.42 million tonnes grain wi...
